SWCA is a 100% employee-owned environmental consulting firm headquartered in Phoenix, Colorado. The company was founded in 1981 by Dr. Steven W. Carothers and has grown to over 40 locations across the country providing a full spectrum of environmental services.SWCA became employee-owned in 1998 when the company implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The company's founder was adamant that the company’s values and culture remain intact, so he sold the company to the employees. The ESOP has contributed significantly to employees’ overall retirement assets and enhanced collaborative culture and company growth.
