Mal Warwick Donordigital (MWD) is an employee-owned marketing company headquartered in Berkeley, California. Since their founding in 1983, the company has worked almost exclusively with non-profit causes and organizations, and political committees that foster social and economic justice. They boast 40 years of experience managing integrated direct marketing fundraising campaigns, that range from acquisition to high-dollar fundraising from both small and large organizations. Their services encompass strategic planning and campaign administration, ensuring the successful execution of campaigns spanning online, mail, and phone-based fundraising avenues. Their direct marketing fundraising programs have enabled clients to build membership and donor bases yielding well over $1 billion dollars in support of their work.
In 2001, Mal Warwick Donordigital became employee-owned when they implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). MWD is the only employee-owned dire response fundraising agency nationwide. This transition traces its roots back to the founder, Mal Warwick, who envisioned this not merely as a succession plan but as a transformative initiative. He sought to empower employees as innovative and engaged stakeholders, ushering in a new era where the company would serve the nonprofit community while prioritizing employee-owners' compensation, benefits, and the fulfillment of meaningful work aligned with the greater public interest.
MWD takes its commitment to employee ownership even further by proudly bearing the Certified Employee-Owned® status, signifying dedication to advancing employee ownership throughout the nation. This certification reflects the agency's adherence to strict standards of widespread and substantial employee ownership, where employees' shared ownership inspires unwavering dedication to delivering high-quality services and exceptional customer satisfaction. This shared sense of ownership drives unwavering commitment and effort among MWD's employee-owners, translating into direct financial benefits when the company excels in serving nonprofit clients. Ultimately, this model supports communities by allowing employees to reap the financial rewards of their hard work, contributing to local economic growth and creating economic opportunities for all.
