Green City Growers is a 100% employee-owned company that transforms underutilized spaces into biodiverse productive landscapes and headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 2008 by Jessie Banhazl and one of her college friends. The original mission was to provide home owners with the infrastructure, tools, and education to grow their own produce at home and they quickly expanded to include commercial customers. Since inception the company has seen significant growth and now manages over 180 farms throughout the Northeast.

Green City Growers became employee-owned in 2009 when their parent company, Evergreen Cooperatives, implemented a worker cooperative (COOP). Employee ownership reinforces Green City Growers values of community, quality, environmental stewardship, and financial wellbeing.
