Brown Strauss is a 100% employee-owned steel service company headquartered in Aurora, Colorado. Brown Strauss was founded in 1905 in Kansas City by Harry Strauss and two brothers, Morton and Isador Brown. Since their founding, Brown Strauss has grown to over 300 employees across ten locations serving 32 states. The company is the premier structural steel service center in the United States with the deepest inventory for wide flange beam, structural tube, structural channel, structural angle and other structural needs.
Brown Strauss became employee-owned in 1996 when they implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). In 2006 the company transitioned to 100% employee ownership. This ownership model means that every employee has a vested interest in the company’s success, which translates into better service for customers. The pride and accountability that come with employee ownership ensure a higher level of commitment and customer care.
