Jorgensen Company is a 100% employee-owned company in the fire protection industry headquartered in Fresno, California. The company was founded in 1932 by  Hans Jorgensen, a Fresno auto mechanic, who was approached by the local Fire Marshal with an intriguing proposition. The Fire Marshal inquired whether Hans would be interested in refilling fire extinguishers, as the previous service provider had ceased operations. Seizing the opportunity to earn an extra income during the Great Depression, Hans agreed. Over the ensuing decades, Hans, alongside his sons Al and Don, diligently expanded the family business, broadening both its geographical reach and the spectrum of services it offered. 


In 1994 Jorgensen Company became employee-owned when they implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As the 20th century neared its end, Al and Don Jorgensen recognized that ensuring their father's legacy beyond their own retirement necessitated passing control of the corporation to the dedicated employees who had played a pivotal role in its growth.
